iPad Sees Drop in Market Share Over 2012 Christmas Period – Infographic
The team over at Chitika have created an infographic detailing the results of a recent study which used data from hundreds of millions of smartphone and tablet impressions from the Chitika Ad network. The study looked at market the shares of the most popular smartphones and tablets and the changes that were seen over the 2012 holiday period.
The most striking finding from this study is that Apple’s iPad market share has fallen from 86% to 78.9% in the days after Christmas – A drop of 7.1% market share.
“This substantial change underscores the inroads non-iPad tablets made this holiday season, reflecting some initial holiday sales estimates released by companies like Amazon. Their Kindle Fire HD tablet was the top-selling product on Amazon.com on Black Friday”
The data for this study was drawn between December 1st and December 27th2012 and only includes traffic from the U.S. and Canada. The results can be seen in the infographic below:
